Eva Mendes made her first public appearance this week since becoming a mother to the most beautiful baby on the planet.
The actress, who has a daughter named Esmeralda with Ryan Gosling, taped an interview with Ellen DeGeneres in which she initially explained why she denied being pregnant the last time she stopped by the program.
"I was so early on," Mendes explained. "All mom's will understand, you're not supposed to tell anybody during your first - well, certainly not the world - in your first trimester
"And my mother didn't even know yet. So that would have been an awkward phone call. 'Hey, mom, did you catch Ellen today?' Um, oops!"
Mendes did open up in print recently about the exhaustion of first-time motherhood, but she has not yet revealed a photo of her child to the world yet.
"Do you mind if I show a picture first?" Ellen therefore asked, before a composite image of Mendes and Gosling appeared in the big screen behind the stars.

On a more serious note, Mendes talked about the challenges of being a celebrity with a baby, trying to shield that little girl from the perils of fame.
"Early on, we decided it's going to be very hard for her to have privacy," the actress said. "And we thought this is the first opportunity we can give her to protect her, and so then I had a nice calm pregnancy ...We'll figure it out, but I'm very thankful that we got through the pregnancy."
